Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for skilled workers

Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) can nominate skilled worker applicants who qualify under the provincially established criteria for Permanent Resident Status through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

To apply through the Newfoundland PNP, candidates need to be either a qualified skilled worker or an international graduate who wish to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador. There are streams for candidates to apply under;

  1. The Newfoundland and Labrador PNP Skilled Worker stream
  2. The Express Entry Skilled Worker stream
  3. The International Graduate stream

The Newfoundland and Labrador PNP Skilled Worker stream’s aim is to attract specialized applicants with skills that are considered as critical for the operations of an employer in that province. To apply in this category, candidates must have, among others, a job or a job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador, the required qualifications for the job and demonstrate their intention to settle in the province.

The Newfoundland and Labrador PNP Express Entry stream is a faster way for eligible skilled workers to immigrate to Newfoundland and Labrador. They must also qualify for a federal economic immigration program. It uses a points-based invitation system, and is an entirely web-based registration and application process for both the provincial nomination and permanent residency process. Candidates must first be registered into Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Express Entry pool. After receiving a high-skilled job or job offer from an employer based on Newfoundland and Labrador, their application will be processed in the Newfoundland and Labrador PNP Express Entry stream.

The Newfoundland and Labrador PNP International Graduate category is designed to attract international students who have graduated from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada.

To apply a candidate must also have a full-time job offer in their field of study, or a related field of study, from a employer in Newfoundland and Labrador, demonstrate their language capabilities and their intention to settle permanently in the province.
