Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) for Business

There are currently two categories for business immigration to Saskatchewan under the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP):

  • the entrepreneur category; and
  • the Farm Owner and Operator category


The Entrepreneur Category


Through the SINP Entrepreneur Program, candidates can start, obtain or partner in a business in Saskatchewan and be actively involved in managing it, while residing in Saskatchewan.


The Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Category Process comprises of three steps:

  1. Expression of Interest (EOI) submission ;
  2. Selection and Invitation to Submit an Application; and
  3. Nomination.


The EOI is expression of a candidate's interest in the Saskatchewan INP whereby theyl indicate their interest in operating a business and living in Saskatchewan by providing required information about their entrepreneurial experience, assets, and Business Establishment Plan (BEP), among other factors. Candidates must meet the minimum entry criteria to be accepted into the EOI candidate pool. Once submitted, EOIs are scored and ranked using the SINP Points Grid for the Entrepreneur Category. To submit an EOI to the SINP, applicants must meet the minimum entry criteria and complete the Points Assessment Grid in order to be scored after their EOI is in the pool of candidates.



The minimum entry criteria which candidates in the Entrepreneur category of the SINP must demonstrate are as follows:

  • At least $500,000 (CAD)  in Net Business and Personal Assets;
  • A minimum of three years of relevant business management or entrepreneurial experience gained in the past ten years; and,
  • Intend to invest a minimum of $300,000 (CAD) in Regina and Saskatoon or a minimum of $200,000 (CAD) in all other Saskatchewan communities.


Invited candidates must submit a Business Establishment Plan (BEP) that must include:

  • The business plan that is aligned with the program;
  • A proposal of a business were the candidates will own at least one third (33 1/3 per cent) of the equity of a business in Saskatchewan (exceptions apply when the total investment is $1 million CAD or higher);
  • A commitment to provide active and on-going participation in the day-to-day management and direction of the business; and
  • The creation of two employment opportunities in Saskatchewan for Canadians or permanent residents who are not related the candidate.


This only applies if establishing a new business in Regina or Saskatoon.


The Farm Owner and Operator category


This category is for those candidates that would like to move to Saskatchewan and who:

  • Have proven experience in farming;
  • Have the capital (money, assets) to invest in a farming operation; and
  • Plan to buy and run a farm in Saskatchewan.


To be approved for nomination in this category, applicants need all of the following:

  • Have a Net worth of $500,000 (CAD) or more
  • Make a "good faith"Refundable Cash Deposit of $75,000 (CAD) in trust which will be returned after meeting the terms of the Performance Agreement.
  • Make a Mandatory visit to Saskatchewan;
  • Demonstrated Farm operation knowledge and experience:
  • Present a proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity.


The Young Farmer stream of the Farm Owners and Operators category was created to allow young farm families to establish their lives and farming operations in rural areas of Saskatchewan. The following is required to apply and be approved for nomination under the Young Farmers stream of the Farm Owner and Operator SINP:

  • Have a personal net worth of at least $300,000 (CAD);
  • Be under the age of 40 at the time of the application.
  • Have at least three years experience in Farm ownership, Farm management or Practical farming experience.
  • Provide a documented proposal for a commercial Saskatchewan farming opportunity.
  • Show marketable employment skills, based on education and work experience.
