IRCC announced on June 8, 2018, faster processing times for student permits under the new Student Direct Stream (SDS)
International students in Canada are on the rise, every year more than 490,000 international student choose to study in Canada.
IRCC has improved the International Student Program, creating the Student Direct Stream (SDS) that will benefit citizens from China, India, the Philippines and Vietnam. The SDS will provide an easier and faster service, making it more accessible to obtain a student permit to come to Canada.

The SDS does not apply to registration in a language course. International students from China, India, the Philippines or Vietnam, cannot obtain a student permit through the Student Direct Stream (SDS) if they are planning to register and attend a Language course.
